I decided I wanted to propose, my girlfriend at the time, had already given me very unsubtle hints of the type of engagement ring that she liked after walking round the usual high street jewellers.
I wanted to get something unique, rather than something picked off the shelf. I found Caron's site on the internet after searching for handmade jewellery in Lincoln.
I emailed at first giving a brief description of my needs, then Caron rang me and we discussed a few options. We arranged a meeting and I met Caron at her house.
We had a very friendly meeting in a relaxed environment and even had a cuppa! I at no point felt pressured or obligated to buy anything. I gave my price limit and we both designed a ring that was similar and yet very different to the ones in the high street shops.
After the ring was designed, it was sent away to Caron's diamond dealer who managed to get us a much better quality of diamond than the high street stores were offering, at the same price. I even received a certificate of authenticity, which was a nice little touch that got me a few extra brownie points with my new fiancé !!
